Washington DC. I imagine all native Washingtonians wanted to roll up a newspaper and boop me on the nose with it and go “NO. BAD CANADIAN. YOU TAKE THE METRO NEXT TIME”. My head may still be spinning from driving into DC – a feat which confuses me. I grew up in a big city, I can navigate NYC like nobody’s business… so why does DC confuse me so!? It’s like a weird ever-changing labyrinth. Or, maybe it’s because I just want to stare at all the pretty things and not pay attention (I was the passenger so I am allowed to, right?)
Regardless of the time it took us to find where we needed to be – and give in and pay the first available parkade (a word that I discovered people around here do not know.) I had the BEST TIME. It was the Passport DC – Around the World Tour. 40 embassies take part in one of the most interesting events I’ve ever experienced. Upon visiting the different countries embassies, and in turn the different countries themselves – you are greeted with local music, dance, food and drink. People are dressed up in traditional garb and in some cases they even had ‘local’ livestock! It was an amazing experience and I cannot wait to tell you and show you all about it!
In time I will be putting up a full gallery on http://www.facebook.com/siobhanyoungphotography
For now I will leave you with a few images from the most adorable Chilean dancers. I don’t know much about them, for all I know they could be related… but I would like to think this is the most graceful love story unraveling before my camera. Oh, a gal can dream, can’t she?!
